Hi! I'm Bill Skelly and I am the founder and Managing Director of Tambish Boardroom Consulting.
I have over 30 years of experience in service delivery and 15 years in the Boardroom covering a variety of roles and perspectives.
After graduating with a degree in Mathematics from Edinburgh University, I went on to begin a rewarding and varied career in the police service, taking on various challenging positions in forces across the UK, ranging from local community policing and organisational development, to international criminal investigation. Initially in Edinburgh, I rose through the ranks to Executive positions and also became Her Majesty's Inspector of Constabulary for Scotland, responsible for inspecting every aspect of how a police force was run and reporting directly to Parliament and the public.
My key experiences include:
- Leading international anti-human trafficking operations while in the Metropolitan Police
- Strategic commander for the planning of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games
- Pioneering innovative approaches to performance management in Devon and Cornwall and leading the foundation of a heritage trust
- National recognition as Chief Constable of Lincolnshire and as the national lead for Performance, Inspection and Police Staff Collective Bargaining and being at the forefront of delivering workforce wellbeing
Following my own path, I have sought to continually develop my training and experience, gaining an MBA from Edinburgh University and Diploma in Criminology from Cambridge.
I received a distinction for my Diploma in Corporate Governance and successfully became a Chartered Director. I was honoured to be named as one of the UK's fifty Leading Lights in kind leadership in 2018 and delighted to be the winner of the Public Services Director of the Year for the Midlands in 2019 and again in 2020.
I am a non-executive Director on the Boards of the South West Police Heritage Trust, the British Police Symphony Orchestra and Team Police.
Through this varied professional experience, I now have the ability and desire to use my experience and learning to make a tangible and lasting difference to your business. I have the technical ability; academic rigour; values and ethics; and importantly real world experience in multi-million pound, high risk settings.
I can help you in three ways: consultancy that examines your strategic business planning; non-executive participation in your Boardroom; and personal, one-to-one coaching and mentoring to professionally develop you and your leadership team.
Getting it right in the Boardroom is key - that’s why when it comes to improving your business you need to look not just at the here and now but also at developing your future. I have a proven track record of senior leadership and have successfully delivered improved performance and planning for organisations locally, nationally and internationally. I can give you the time and guidance you need, I know what the world looks like from where you are, and you don't have to face it on your own.
If this sounds appealing, then get in touch for a conversation about how I could help you to achieve your goals.
